FAQs
Lilynage® (Lily's Drainage Method) is a self-massage technique that is based on Deep Lymphatic Drainage Massage. As such, the emphasis is on stimulating the Deep Lymphatic vessels that are located deeper within the body, through massaging along the 'lines of the bone' in order to loosen the attachment points of muscles and get closer to the deep lymphatic ducts within the body.
It is a supportive self-care technique for healthy individuals who would like to enhance their physical and emotional well-being.
It is also a method of creating your most beautiful self in a natural manner.
As such it is not a method of treatment for lymphedema or lymphatic disorders.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a technique that focuses on stimulating the superficial lymphatic drainage system. It is a light, skin-stretching massage that helps promote the movement of lymphatic fluid through the body. It can be given as part of Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) and can be administered by a trained therapist. The hand motions and strokes for MLD are different from Lilynage®.

2. What are the benefits of caring for our lymphatic system?
The lymphatic system is a network of vessels, nodes, and ducts that pass through almost all bodily tissues. It allows the circulation of a fluid called lymph through the body in a similar way to blood. It plays a key role in fighting disease, maintaining fluid balance, absorption of fatty acids in the stomach, and immune system regulation.

For myself personally, through practising the Lilynage® method of self-massage based on Deep Lymphatic Drainage, I have gained:
A greater acceptance of myself and where I am in my life right now.
Gratitude towards my body, through recognising how my body is an accumulation of all that I have experienced in my life and learning to be thankful towards my body every single day.
Relief of muscle tension, with less aches and pains.
It’s given me a whole new understanding to my body, my muscles, what patterns I have. An awareness of my thought and movement patterns. And most important, the ability to make changes in my life to change how I feel for the better.
It has helped me to gain a newfound confidence and optimism towards my life. And has helped me to develop a greater sense of love, gentleness, compassion and kindness towards myself and others.
These are changes that I’ve learnt to incorporate to my life over time, bit by bit, every day, and that’s the beauty of habit and small steps accumulated over a period of time.
3. Why Self-Massage ?
Learning how to massage yourself is a powerful and beautiful skill that you can use for a lifetime.
Through self-massage, you learn how to understand your body better, what it feels like when it is hard and tense, or soft and relaxed. You learning how to soften and loosen muscles that have become tense/painful through habits and postural patterns in your daily life.
You learn how to care for and change your body for the better.
Self-massage is different from going to a spa to get a massage because you know yourself and your body's condition the best. Being able to adjust your pressure, being able to care for yourself every single day through a daily ritual of self massage results in powerful cumulative changes over time. It's about the process of developing a self-care practice for yourself that is sustainable, enjoyable, and empowering.
It is a tool that you can use for a lifetime.
1. What are the differences between Lilynage® and Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage?
“If you feel lost, disappointed, hesitant, or weak, return to yourself, to who you are, here and now and when you get there, you will discover yourself, like a lotus flower in full bloom, even in a muddy pond, beautiful and strong.”
— Masaru Emoto
